The second block course of the ProCyD project brought together educators from various partner universities in Maputo once more, showcasing a diverse array of teaching materials aimed at promoting data security and data protection awareness. Building upon the foundation laid in the first block course, this session was meant to present contributions from partner universities, including RU, MU, TUT, UPM and TUD, that can later be used as teaching materials for the awareness course.
The course materials covered a broad spectrum of topics regarding the field of digital security. Despite some logistical challenges, such as a few speakers being unable to attend in person, the course ran smoothly, with online presentations filling in the gaps.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with suggestions for enhancing the practical application of theoretical knowledge. A key takeaway was the importance of showing students how to translate what they’ve learned into real-world scenarios, ensuring the Awareness Course will be both informative and actionable.
Looking ahead, the Awareness Course will be offered to a variety of undergraduate programs, from Computer Engineering to Civil Construction Engineering, with plans to integrate it into the Tema Transversale curriculum at the Mozambiquan universities starting in the second semester of 2025. The course aims to prepare the next generation of professionals in Mozambique to understand the critical
role of data security in their respective fields.
A special thanks to our partners from UEM for their excellent organization of both block courses!
