Designing Online Learning for Sustainable Futures
Rhodes University is offering a free, accredited Trainer of Trainers programme focused on designing and facilitating high-quality online and blended courses that address sustainability challenges.
Digital Course Design for Sustainable Futures runs from March to July 2026 and targets university lecturers, trainers, instructional designers, and education or development practitioners working in digital learning contexts. The programme emphasises practical learning design, effective use of digital tools, and co-engaged pedagogies that support meaningful participation and real-world impact.
Participants will design an online or blended course, apply inclusive digital teaching strategies, and integrate sustainability principles into learning design. Graduates complete the programme with a Portfolio of Evidence and a Certificate of Competence (NQF Level 6, 10 credits), accredited by Rhodes University.
The course is delivered online / blended, includes live sessions and applied assignments, and requires approximately 100 notional hours. There is no cost to participate.
